BIT (TU) Entrance Exam Syllabus

If you want to study Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) at Tribhuvan University (TU), first you need to pass the BIT entrance exam. This exam is taken by TU IOST (Institute of Science and Technology).

BIT Entrance Syllabus

Total marks = 100
The questions come from subjects of Class 11 and 12 (or same level).

  • English – 50 marks
  • Maths or Computer – 50 marks
(You can choose one: either Mathematics or Computer)

So, English is fixed, and for the other part, you pick what you want — Maths or Computer.


English (50 Marks, Class 11-12)

The English section of the BIT entrance exam is based on the syllabus of Grade 11 and 12. It includes grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing skills. So, if you’ve studied English in +2 or equivalent, you’re already familiar with most of the topics!

Tips:
  • Read English articles or blogs daily (even tech blogs are fine).
  • Try grammar exercises online — there are tons of free resources.
  • Practice reading paragraphs and answering questions.


Math or Computer – 50 Marks

You can choose either Mathematics or Computer. Choose one you are good at.


Option 1: Mathematics (Class 11)

The Mathematics part of the BIT entrance exam covers topics from Grade 11 syllabus. Make sure to focus on the basics and important formulas of class 11 to do well in this section.


Tips:
  • Focus on formulas and how to apply them.
  • Practice past questions.
  • Solve at least 5–10 math problems daily.
  • Use YouTube tutorials if you’re stuck on a topic.


Option 2: Computer Science (Class 11-12)

The Computer Science section of the BIT entrance exam is based on the syllabus from Grade 11 and 12. It includes basic programming, computer fundamentals, and theory of  +2 or equivalent.


Tips:
  • Review your +2 Computer Science book.
  • Try simple coding exercises online (C or C++).
  • Watch crash courses on YouTube about computer fundamentals.
